Introduction

This article is a quick access list of all the UGC NET Law previous question papers that have been published on LawMint.com.

Prior to 2012, Paper I and Paper II were objective type and Paper III was an β€˜Essay Type’ subjective paper, which is the reason there are no β€˜Paper III’s included in the list till the year 2012.

From 2012 onward, the UGC NET became a completely objective type exam, with the General Paper I and the Subject specific Papers II & III.

However, there was an overlap in the syllabus and the scope of papers II and III, which made having two papers almost redundant. From 2018 onward, UGC NET has only two papers. The syllabus and scope of the erstwhile Papers II and III have been combined into the new Paper II.

The length of the over all exam has also reduced by 25 questions. Previously Paper II had 50 questions and Paper III had 75 questions – adding up to 125 MCQs. The new Paper III has 100 questions.

These question papers should be solved at least two or three times before you take the exam. A big chunk of the questions in the UGC NET Law exam will be repeats or variations of many questions that have appeared previously. These questions can be used as mock tests or sample papers.

Note : The UGC NET syllabus for papers 1 & 2 was changed since Jan 2019

All these UGC NET Law previous question papers are also included in our Online Prep Pack, where the order of questions and the answer choices are shuffled with each attempt – for better practice. The Prep pack also has 100 mock tests for all the practice you will need before the exam.

Why is it important to solve as many UGC NET Law Previous question papers as possible ?

Solving previous question papers is an essential part of the preparation strategy for any standardized multiple choice question based exam where the syllabus is relatively stable. When we review the UGC NET Law previous question papers, we will see that a number of questions are repeated, modified and variations of questions from the previous years.

When it comes to subjects like Constitutional law, though there are more than 400 articles in the Constitution, 80% of the questions are based on 30 ~ 40 important Articles. Another 15% of the questions touch upon relatively lesser know 10 ~ 20 articles. So, rather than trying to cover all the 400+ articles, it would be prudent to prepare for the 50 odd important articles.

Similarly, the scope of Jurisprudence in the UGC NET Law syllabus is quite wide. Trying to read everything in-depth would require a significant amount of time and effort; but when we review the previous question papers, we will see that there are around 80 ~ 100 questions within which most of the questions are derived from.
