UGC has changed the pattern for the 2018 UGC NET exam conducted by the CBSE. Previously there were three papers , Papers I, II and III. From 2018, there will only be two papers, I and II.
Note : The UGC NET syllabus for Papers 1 and 2 has been revised from Jan 2019 onward. Check other articles on LawMint.com and also the official website for the latest and updated details.
The current pattern of the UGC NET exam is :
- Paper I – with 50 questions – the general paper common for all candidates.Â
- Paper II – with 100 questions – specific to the subject chosen by the candidate
While Paper I remains the same as the previous year, the length of Paper II has been increased from 50 questions in previous years to 100 questions in 2018.
The Paper III which used to have 75 questions has been dropped, so the overall length of the UGC NET Exam actually goes down by 25 questions. (50 + 75 Qs in previous years to 100 Qs in 2018)
All questions are compulsory in both the papers and there is no negative marking.
The syllabus for Paper II now covers the topics that were previously divided between Papers II and III.
