IIT Kharagpur has announced the RGSOIPL LLM Entrance test for the two year LLM program commencing from the 2020-2022 academic years.

The Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law (RGSOIPL) is a part of the prestigious IIT Kharagpur. Established in 2006, this School of Law has the unique feature of imparting conventional legal education along with contemporary law courses that cater to the needs of the global economy, including Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and fields related thereto.

As an institution focused on IPR Law, RGSOIPL equips the students to unravel intricacies of different laws and legal issues and to appreciate or critique them in the given setting with apt logical reasoning. The weekly discussions, seminars and debates in the classroom provide them a unique forum to sharpen their skills and logic. RGSOIPL has been ranked 4th in India by NIRF, MHRD in the Law School Category.

Important Dates for RGSOIPL LLM Entrance 2020

• Availability of Application forms online : 3rd January, 2020
• Last date to submit Online application forms 16th March, 2020
• Date of entrance examination 18th April, 2020 – 10:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs (2 hours)
• Date of Personal Interview 19th April, 2020 – 14:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs

IIT KGP LLM Entrance Examination

The Entrance Exam will be conducted in centers across Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Mumbai
(The institute reserves the right to add, cancel or change test centers. The changes, if any, will be notified to candidate well in advance.)

The venue for the written examination and personal Interview will be confirmed in the Admit card.

The Admit Card for written examination and personal interview for admission to LLB/LLM programme will be issued to the shortlisted candidates through email. The IIT KGP LLM entrance Admit Card can also be downloaded using login ID from the official application portal.

Eligibility for Admission to the IIT LL.M. Program commencing in 2020

• First class (or equivalent ) in Bachelor of Laws LL.B./B.L. (5 years) program from any recognized University, or
• First Class (or equivalent) in Bachelor of Laws LL.B./B.L.(3 years) program from any recognized University along with Bachelor’s Degree (not less than 3 years) in Humanities/ Science/ Commerce or equivalent.
• Students having LL.B (Hons.) in Intellectual Porperty Law from the IIT Kharagpur with CGPA of 8.5 or above are eligible for admission without appearing in the All India Common Entrance Examination (CET).
• The requisite qualifying marks for admission to postgraduate and research programmes of the Institute are CGPA 6.5 in 10 point scale or 60% marks for GE/OBC candidates (these are CGPA 6.0 and 55% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates).
• The CGPA will not be converted into percentage marks if the degree awarding institute provides marks in CGPA system. Their admission will be based on the CGPA awarded in the transcript.
• If the CGPA is on a different scale other than 10.0, the eligibility of the candidate will be calculated corresponding to the equivalence stated above.

 

Admission Procedure RGSOIPL 2020

• Application fee is as per mentioned in the official application form
• There is no fee waiver for any category of candidates

 

Instructions To Fill In Online Application Form

STEP-I : Fill in the ONLINE application form
Register with Your Email Id and Login. FILL in the appropriate data. Please note that you have to upload your testimonials wherever it is required to validate your information along with your digital photograph and signature.

STEP-II : Make PAYMENT and SUBMIT Application
Payment of application fee has to be made through online payment gateway only.

STEP-III : Take PRINT
After final submission of your online application, you will be able to generate your online application print with your specific details/data. This application print may be retained with you for future requirement.

Please note that you NEED NOT SEND the application by post. Your application will be considered on the basis of your final submission through online. You can check submission, shortlisting, selection and other application related status from Application Status menu. You should remember your login id and password for the same.

 

IIT KGP LLM Shortlisting Information:

The candidates shortlisted for online test will be informed through email only. Their names will also be notified in the official IIT KGP RGSOIPL webpage. Candidates can also see their status through official application portal and download the interview letter, if shortlisted.

General Instructions to candidates for LL.M 2020 Admission

• Examination time on 18th April, 2020: 10 AM to 12 PM.
• Personal Interview on 19th April, 2020: 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM.
• Reporting to the center : 1 hr. before the time specified in the call letter.
• At the time of entrance, candidates must carry hard copy of the admit card along with other photo identification documents such as university ID card/driving license/passport/PAN Card/Aadhar card (Any two minimum).
• Candidates belonging to the reserved/physically challenged categories must upload supporting document/certificate as recognized by the Competent Authority.
• Any Electronic gadgets including mobiles, iPads/laptops are not allowed in the examination hall.

RGSOIPL LLM Entrance Question Paper Pattern & Syllabus

Syllabus for the LLM Entrance test : Legal aptitude 120 marks (Objective Type). IIT KGP does not provide a detailed syllabus for the entrance exam. However, based on an analysis of the model question paper and feedback from previous test takers, we have compiled our online practice pack as per the expected syllabus for the RGSOIPL.

The Multiple Choice Questions will be based on the following topics :

• Jurisprudence
• Constitutional Law
• Law of Contracts
• Law of Torts
• Law of Crimes
• Environmental Law
• Public International Law
• Indian Evidence Act
• Family law – Hindu Law and Muslim Law.

 

There are no specific details provided by IIT KGP about negative marking in the RGSOIPL LLM Entrance. However, for optimum practice, we have included 0.25 marks negative marking in our RGSOIPL Model Question Papers and Mock Tests.
