NTA – National Testing Agency, which conducts the Delhi University Entrance Exams, including the DU LLM Entrance Test, has released the date for DUET 2020. Announcing the LLM entrance test in advance will help avoid any clash with other exams normally taken by the same candidates.

In 2019, the ILI entrance interviews were held on the same dates as the DU LLM entrance. Several candidates has to request for a reschedule of the interview dates and some had to miss one of the entrance processes. Hopefully, for 2020,Β  other exams such as the ILI CAT, AILET PG and CLAT PG will be planned considering the DU LLM dates.

Delhi University (DUET) PG LLM Entrance – 2020 dates

The official NTA announcement has given the (DUET) PG LLM – 2020 dates as below.

Mode of Examination :Computer Based Examination (CBT – Computer Based Test)
Exam Registration Dates :Starts From 2nd March to 31st March, 2020
Download of Admit Cards from the NTA / DU website :30th April, 2020 Onward
Dates for DU LLM Entrance Exam :From 2nd June to 11th June, 2020
Date for Announcing the Results :By 25th June, 2020

Note : The above dates are subject to change and candidates are expected to reconfirm the dates of the DU LLM Entrance exam from the official DU and NTA websites.

DU LLM 2020 Entrance Test pattern

  1. The Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET)-2020 – LL.M. Entrance Test will be held ONLINE at various centers which will be notified by the University in the official announcement.
  2. The exact schedule of the test will be notified later on the official DU and NTA websites.
  3. The DU LLM Entrance Test will be of two hours duration.
  4. The Test Paper will consist of one question paper, with 100 objective-type questions (multiple choice answers).
  5. The language of the Entrance Test will be English.
  6. Each question will carry four marks. (Maximum 600 marks for the total paper)
  7. For every correct answer,four marks will be awarded and for every incorrect answer,one mark will be deducted.
  8. No marks will be awarded or deducted for a question which is left unanswered.
  9. The general instructions to the candidates will be supplied later on the University website.

DU LLM 2020 Entrance Exam Syllabus

The syllabus for the DU LLM 2020 Entrance exam is predominantly based on the standard BCI approved LLB syllabus that is used scross Law Schools in India. The topics are as listed below.

DU LLM Program Overview

The Faculty of Law was established in 1924 by the University of Delhi. In 1944, one year Master of Laws (LL.M.) was introduced. The LL.M. Course was made a full-time two-year Course in the year 1947 and this course continues till date.

Students taking admission in LL.M. (Two-years) course are required to file an affidavit declaring that they are not engaged in any trade, profession, business, or employment, etc.

The Mid-Sixties saw the introduction of two year course titled Master of Comparative Laws (M.C.L) for foreign students. Around the same time LL.M. (Three Year) was introduced to enable working persons to acquire the L L.M. degree by studying the same courses of LL.M. (Two Year) spread over a period of three years.

DU LL.M. Program Objectives and Design

The DU LL.M. Program is aimed at:
– Familiarizing students with laws and judicial interpretations at the national and international level and a comparative study of the same.
– Apprising students of the legal system, rule of law, and administration of justice.
– Imparting professionally and socially relevant legal education.
– Sensitizing students towards the issues of access to justice of the deprived, marginalized and weaker sections of society.
– Producing internationally competent litigating lawyers, corporate lawyers, judges, judicial officers, legal officers, researchers, law reformers, law teachers, etc.
– Imparting skills of legal reasoning, problem solving, research, legal writing, oral and written communication, persuasion, leadership and teamwork.
– Promoting ethical practices in the profession of law.
– Promoting inter-disciplinary approach to legal profession.

At the end of the DU LL.M. course, the students will be able to:
– Do legal research.
– Understand, interpret, and apply law.
– Evaluate and compare domestic and international laws.
– Design, and formulate case theory and strategy.
– Analyze and differentiate facts and law.
– Solve problems by employing legal reasoning, research.
– Choose ethical practices in the profession of law and discharge their social responsibility.

 

Eligibility for Admissions to the DU LLM program

  • The DU LL.M. programs are for Indian students.
  • DU LL.M. (Two Year) is a full time course and students seeking admission in this course are required to file an affidavit stating that they are not engaged in any trade, business, occupation, profession, or employment and will be studying the course on full time basis as per rules contained in the Delhi University Ordinances.
  • LL.M. (Three year) course is open to working persons also.
  • The admissions to Master of Laws (Two and Three year program) are made strictly on the basis of merit in the LL.M. Entrance Test.
  • A Three year/Five year L L.B. Degree from the University of Delhi or any other Indian or Foreign University recognized as equivalent by the University of Delhi is the qualifying degree for appearing in the LL.M. Entrance Test.
  • Candidates appearing in the qualifying degree examination are also eligible to appear in the LL.M. Entrance Test.
  • No candidate on the rolls of LL.M. or ex-student of any University will be allowed to take admission in the LL.M. course unless they get their admission cancelled.
  • For Unreserved and EWS Category candidates at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade point in the aggregate in the qualifying degree examination.
  • For SC/ST/OBC/CW/PwD Category Candidates at least 45% marks or an equivalent grade point in the aggregate in the qualifying degree Examination.
  • Rounding of a fraction of marks is not allowed.
