About Dr. Ram ManoharLohiya National Law University, RMNLU

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, was established by an Act of Legislature of Uttar Pradesh in 2005 (U.P. Act No. 28 of 2005) which came into force on 4th January 2006.  The University became functional since July, 2006.

The University has been established to advance, disseminate learning and knowledge of law, legal process and to develop in the students a sense of responsibility to serve the society. Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, which is fully funded by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh, provides excellent infrastructural facilities and academic environment to the students.

This residential University is a complete township having separate hostels for boys and girls along with the mess facilities. The University has more than 30 permanent full time faculty members, which is rarity amongst National Law Universities. The entire University campus is equipped with Wi-Fi facility.

The University has world class Mooting and debating culture and as a result the students of the University have excelled in both national and international moot court and debate competitions. Our students have brought laurels representing India in various prestigious international moot court competitions held in several countries like United States of America, Australia, Germany, Austria, Romania, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia and Iran to name a few.

 

Placements and Internships for PG LLM at RMLU through CLAT PG

There is a rigorous internship programme which every student of the University has to undergo as a part of the curriculum during vacation period. Many students of our University are presently working in several top law firms, corporate firms and banks of the country like :

Apart from working as Law Clerks with the Hon’ble judges of the Supreme Court of India and High Courts, our students are serving subordinate judiciary as well. Our students are among the toppers of various judicial service examinations. Several of our students have opted for litigation in the Supreme Court and various High Courts.

There is an increasing trend where our students are opting for higher studies abroad in some of the world’s prestigious Universities like Oxford, University of London, New York, San Francisco, Leiden and McGill.

 

LL.M. One Year Programme Eligibility through CLAT PG LLM

The admission shall be based on the performance in the Common Law Admission Test. However, to qualify for admission, the candidate must have passed LL.B. Degree or an equivalent Degree from a recognized University with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade (50% in case of SC/ST candidates of U. P.).

Candidates who have appeared in the LL.B. Degree exam must have passed/appeared in the final semester/ final year examination of the qualifying examination on the date of his/her admission.

 

RMNLU Intake and Reservation of LLM PG seats through CLAT Entrance

The intake is 20 (twenty) and 07 (seven) super-numerary seats per year with the following breakup :

• Schedule Caste of Uttar Pradesh (21%) – 04
• Schedule Tribe of Uttar Pradesh (02%) – 01

• Foreign Nationals/ NRIs/ NRI Sponsored Candidates  – 05
• Students of Jammu & Kashmir – 02

Total Seats for the LLM program : 27

* The Candidates seeking admission against these seats will be required to apply directly to the University in the prescribed format along with the supporting documents as per the notification to be placed on the University Website. CLAT merit will be used for the admission to NRI/ NRI Sponsored Category. Foreign Nationals, need not take CLAT-2019 and should apply directly to Dr. RMLNLU, Lucknow.

Horizontal Reservation to the following categories shall also be available as mentioned below:

• Specially Abled Person (SAP) 03 %
• Dependents of Freedom Fighters of Uttar Pradesh 02 %
• Sons/daughters of defence personnel deployed in Uttar Pradesh or defence personnel of Uttar Pradesh either retired or killed/disabled in action 05 %
• Female candidates 20 %

Fee Structure for PG LLM Program through CLAT PG Entrance

All amounts in INR.

• Admission Fee (one time)  – 1,000.00
• Tuition Fee (per annum) – 20,000.00
• Utility Charge (per annum) – 48,000.00
• Caution Money(one time) – 10,000.00
• Total  – 79,000.00

Payment towards mess facility shall be payable separately in two half yearly advance installments. Mess charges may range between 3,000/- to  3,500/- per month based on the agreement with the service provider.

The students shall be charged separate fee as may be prescribed by the competent authority from time to time.

 

Scholarships at RMNLU for LLM PG through CLAT Entrance

Scholarships to the candidates of SC/ST/OBC of Uttar Pradesh and also to the students of unreserved categories having family income less than 2.00 lac per annum are available under various schemes of the Department of Social Welfare, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh.

Students of these categories are also eligible for reimbursement of their annual fee subject to fulfillment of the conditions laid down by the Social Welfare Department, Backward Class Welfare Department, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh, as the case may be.

The University is also included in the list of institutions of excellence under the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme of Top Class Education for SC/ST Students. Under this scheme five eligible students of SC/ST category are provided scholarship which include reimbursement of full tuition fee, living expenses @ of 2,220/- per month, books & stationery @ 3,000/- per annum and computer/accessories up to 45,000/- per annum per student.

Reimbursement/partial reimbursement of tuition fee along with other financial incentives is also available under UGC Scheme of ‘Free Education for Sports Medal Winner/Participants of National/International Events’.

Scholarships are also available for SAP Category students under various schemes of National Handicapped Finance Development Corporation (NHFDC).
