About National University Of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi

The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) was established by Act 27 of 2005 of the Kerala State Legislature, which merged the National Institute for Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), established by the Bar Council of Kerala in 2002, with the NUALS. The University has been granted 12-B status by the University Grants Commission in the year 2016 which may strengthen the University in its overall development of the Academic activities and its infrastructure.

The University offers a One Year LL.M. Degree Course in Constitutional & Administrative Law and International Trade Law and Post-graduate Diploma Courses in Medical Law & Ethics and Cyber Laws.

 

Placements for NUALS PG LLM through the CLAT PG admissions

An Internship Committee and a Placement Committee, under the supervision of a Faculty Member, function in the University. The NUALS Campus Recruitment Committee, a student initiative,
facilitates placements for students graduating from NUALS. A substantial number of them have already been benefited by this programme in the past nine years.

No specific break-up or data has been published for the LLM program.

 

NUALS Scholarships & Freeships for CLAT PG admissions

Apart from several scholarships, the University also provides freeship to economically weaker students by offering 50% of concession in tuition fee.

 

NUALS PG LLM for CLAT PG admissions

NUALS offers a One Year LL.M. Programme in two distinct branches :
(i) International Trade Law and
(ii) Constitutional and Administrative Law,

Total intake is 40 seats. (See details below in this post)

NUALS PG LLM for CLAT PG admissions process & eligibility

Admission to the LL.M. Degree Course shall be based on the performance in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) on Merit-cum-Preference basis.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
A candidate shall have passed the 5 Year Integrated B. A. LL.B. (Hons.) Degree of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 55 % of the total marks in the aggregate [Not less than 50% in the case of SC/ST (declared eligible for reservation in the State of Kerala) candidates].

RESERVATION
The seats shall be apportioned as follows:

All India Merit 51 % – 20
State Merit (Kerala) 9 % – 3
Scheduled Caste (Kerala) 8% – 3
Scheduled Tribe (Kerala) 2 % – 1
Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) [Kerala] 30 % – 13
Total: 40 Seats

Out of the above, 5 % of the total intake of the 40 seats are horizontally reserved for the Specially Abled Persons (SAP).

The apportionment of seats for various categories under the SEBC Quota for the PG Programme is as follows:
i. Ezhava, Thiyya, Billava (ETB) 9 % – 3
ii. Muslims (MU) 8 % – 3
iii. Other Backward Hindus (OBH) 3 % – 1
iv. Latin Catholic & Anglo Indian (LCAI) 3 % – 1
v. Other Backward Christian (OBX) 1 % – 1
vi. Kudumbi (KU) 1 % – 1
vii. Kusavan and related communities (KN) 1 % – 1
viii. Dheevara and related communities (DV) 2 % – 1
