Prescribed or Recommended books and material for APSET 2018 Law Syllabus Paper II

As such, there are no officially prescribed text books  or any standard text book or reference material for the APSET exam.

Since the exam is MCQ based, the ideal approach would be to solve as many mock tests and model question papers as possible to practice effectively.

LawMint online courses are specifically designed with plenty of mock tests covering the entire syllabus of the exam.

APSET 2018 Law Paper II – Ideal Preparation Strategy

With the removal of Paper III, the APSET is completely a multiple choice objective type exam based on the entire 3 year LLB syllabus.

Salient features of the current APSET Law Paper II :

  • It is completely an objective type  paper
  • There are no ‘analytical’ / ‘quants’ / ‘reasoning’ based questions in Paper II
  • A bulk of the questions emphasize more on memory & recognition skills. E.g. Which Article of the Constitution says this . . . ? What Salmond / Austin / Hart said . . . ?
  • A significant number of questions are repeated / variations / adapted from previous exams or from other similar exams.

While the core syllabus is from the standard LLB course, it covers subject spanning across all the three years; so studying extensive theory is not the best way to prepare for this multiple choice based exam.

Here is where candidates will have to work smart – not simply work hard.

The ideal approach would be to solve solve all the previous papers you can find and as many MCQs (Multiple Choice Objective type questions)  as possible, covering the entire syllabus, with focus on the critical areas . Solve at least two mock tests every day and after you have finished, re-attempt the ones from the previous day till you can blindly click on the right answer without thinking too much. After all, almost 85% of the questions are repeats / variants from previous years or derived from ‘important questions’ from other similar exams.

  • Complete 2 (or preferably 3 or more) mock tests every day.
  • Review the results carefully and make a note of the questions you got wrong and memorize the correct answers.
  • Repeat the process every day till you circle back to the first set of mock tests and just keep repeating the cycle.
  • In around 20 – 25 days, you will have become familiar with a bulk of the ‘important’ questions; and you will know the answer by instinct and your scores will start going up.
  • Most of the APSET questions don’t need any explanation or reasoning . You just need to know the correct answer & be able to choose from similar choices.

Check out our APSET Law Practice Packs based on the latest APSET 2018 Law Syllabus and stay tuned for more articles.

Note: The APSET syllabus document may not be updated and still talks about Papers II and III, whereas Paper III has been removed. The exam notification clarifies on this, explaining that the paper II will not cover the entirety of the syllabus of the previous Papers II and III; with objective questions.

Your comments, questions and feedback are welcome.
