Intent or purpose of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972
The Legislature of India enacted the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 on 9th September 1972, to provide for the protection of wild animals, birds and plants and for matters connected therewith or ancillary or incidental thereto with a view to ensuring the ecological and environmental security of the country.
The act is associated with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
