Intent or purpose of the Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867
The Legislature of India enacted the Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867 on 22nd March 1867, for the regulation of Printing-presses and newspapers, for the printed in India, and for the registration of such books and newspapers.
